Open My Eyes

 I did not know that I could open my eyes

For, at first, I needed to be taught how

I did not know that I could open my eyes

Once I became afraid of what I might feel

I did not know that I could open my eyes 

To discover there is more than one way to see

I did not know that I could open my eyes

To find myself in you

I did not know that I could open my eyes

Until I let love shine through them

And if I were to know that I could open my eyes

Would I ever close them again
